“Religious Studies Philosophy and Ethics Tutor”
08/01/2016 4:23 pm
I have an undergraduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies and a masters degree in Philosophical Theology. I have a passion for my subject and I am planning to do a Ph.D in Theology/Philosophy. In the meantime, alongside my own studies, I would love to help tutor those taking particularly an A Level in Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics, but also those taking GCSE Religious Studies. I would like to share my own knowledge and expertise to help students better understand the subject content and achieve higher grades. My teaching method is aimed at improving understanding and general essay technique in order to obtain high marks. I seek always to encourage and motivate my students and help them progress and develop. Please feel free to get in touch in order to discuss how I might help.
What your tutoring approach?
Fundamentally I want to see my students reach their full potential. My tutoring approach therefore aims to motivate and inspire the student, by building up their confidence, and provide them with the resources necessary to achieving good grades. Naturally, I will ensure the pupil has a good understanding of the course material. This is something that must be done in a patient and structured way to ensure a thorough understanding of relevant concepts and arguments is obtained. Nonetheless, once a solid understanding is obtained, such material still needs to be appropriately applied, so therefore I will focus much of my teaching on essay writing. Being able to develop an argument and structure an essay is fundamental to achieving good marks, and it is often the case that a student simply needs to be shown, how to do this, and so I would focus on this too in my tutoring approach. I would hope to maintain regular contact with my student to keep up to date with where they are in the course at school in order to make the most of our lessons. Also I think it is useful if I can look over written school work in order to offer help and guidance.
