Finding a teaching style to suit your child
Children learn in different ways, and will respond to different methods of teaching. Finding a tutor who gels with your child and who can tailor sessions to match their learning preferences will mean you get more out of sessions. When you chat to potential tutors on the site, ask about their approach to teaching, and what they’d recommend for your child’s specific needs.
Agreeing a schedule
We recommend that you agree a structured learning schedule with your tutor, arranging a plan for a year’s tuition at agreed times to give as much support as possible to your child. Tuition sessions for primary school children are generally 30 minutes, while secondary school sessions are an hour or more.
Find an hourly rate to suit your budget
Our tutors set their own rates, and you pay them directly. When you’re happy with your match there is a one-off Tutor Connexions fee of between £4.99 to £19.99, which is set at half the tutor’s hourly rate. This pricing structure saves you money, as you don’t pay recurring agency fees, and because tutors keep 100% of their hourly rate, they’re able to offer you the best price possible.
